Briggs of Burton collaborates with University of Nottingham for Hands-On ‘Brew Day’

Briggs of Burton is thrilled to announce our new collaboration with the University of Nottingham’s International Centre for Brewing Science (ICBS). As a long-standing supporter of the University. BRIGGS has been given access to their Research Pilot Brewery (RPB), opening up opportunities for our team and our customers to engage in hands-on ‘Brew Days’.

The Research Pilot Brewery, designed and built by BRIGGS, offers unique insight into hygienic process engineering. Participants will have access to training and meeting rooms, making it ideal for in-person training sessions and showcasing BRIGGS equipment and engineering.

Our key objective is to bring people together and teach across the business. These ‘Brew Days’ provide a safe and controlled environment by blending theory with practice, allowing participants to see firsthand what BRIGGS does. With access to award-winning trainers and facilities just a short drive from our Global Technical Centre, this initiative highlights our commitment to learning and development.

The first ‘Brew Day’ took place on Thursday, 13th February, featuring a mix of practical and theoretical teaching sessions. Activities included raw material handling and mash separation, learning about wort boiling to filling a fermenter, an overview of ‘the cold side’, and ending the day with product finishing and packaging. One highlight was a brief introduction to Lock out / Tag out (LOTO), and the day wouldn’t be complete without a sampling!
